Fat guy turns pounds into Unique Business Idea

Obesity is a global epidemic, currently more than 1 billion adults are classed as overweight and at least 300 million of them are clinically obese.

An obese Australian man has come up with a novel idea to market online business, get healthier and combat his current unemployment. Ray Martin, 34, a former web designer from Sydney, founded the web site in June 2010 with the idea to wear a pin on button designed by any company for every hour of exercise he does.

Weighing in at an unhealthy 380 pounds he aims to lose atleast 170 pounds over the course of a thousand hours of exercise.

Titling himself 'The World's First Professional Internet Weight Loser and Business Promoter' and claiming to have grown 'too big for my buttons, now I want to wear yours' , Mr Martin is charging just 30 cents for the first hour of his service, increasing the value in 30 cent increments for each following hour.

"When I do an hour of exercise I wear the company's button for the rest of the day no matter where I go. I take photos, upload the company's image and link on my site, make a youtube video, blog, post an update on Facebook, Twitter and other places."

Mr Martin said disillusionment with the tight job market and recent health issues inspired him to turn a negative situation into something positive.

"I was unemployed for over 12 months and seemed to be getting nowhere. That combined with losing my Mother and Grandmother recently, due in part to unhealthy lifestyle, my own unhealthy lifestyle and the grief that comes with loss, it was all a very negative cycle and something had to give." he stated.

Mr Martin also plans to quit smoking as part of his transformation.

"I loathe exercising so I am using this as a form of motivation. The best way to lose weight is to tell people you are trying, I am telling the world and obligating myself to follow through for my clients. Drop by and torture me!" laughs Mr Martin.

With businesses looking for new innovative ways to sell their brand, Mr Martin believes attaching it to something ethically positive whilst permeating social media networks is a win-win situation for both his clients and himself.

Mr Martin plans to write a book on losing weight the healthy way and release it for free as an ebook as he nears his goal weight.
