Ski Jackets: What You Need To Check

If you are the kind of person who is fond of conquering hill tops and climbing cold mountains, then definitely you need a ski jacket to keep you warm. Climbing can be a very good hobby and sport, the coldness brought by the winds may be undesirable that your body may not withstand it. Ski jackets have been used by mountaineers in every climb that they undertake especially during winter season when mountains and hill tops can be very tricky and cold. These are one of those important must haves that they needed when deciding to climb.

It is important to make sure to check the type of ski jacket that you have before deciding on the climb. There are three important layers of a ski jacket that you really need to check. This is usually called the three layer system. The first layer is called the base layer. This is the layer of the ski jacket that is in direct contact with your skin. This is also known as the wick layer. After you sweat on your hiking, there are fabrics that instead of getting rid of the sticky absorption of sweat, it instead draws in all of it which makes it uncomfortable. So for those who really like sweating out through mountain climbing or hiking, it is essential that you check on the absorption characteristic of your jacket. It is best to choose that which only absorbs a small amount of water. Also, it is best to check whether the fibers that made up your jacket is durable enough. Most especially, for the base layer, it is also best to check on the odor-blocking characteristic of the jacket because while hiking may be fun, odor causing germs are not.

The insulating layer is the second layer of your jacket that needs to be checked. This is important because this layer is responsible for the heat retention of the body. This layer is commonly made of polyester. The polyester in this second layer is responsible for trapping heat in the body from going out, because of the kind of fiber that it is which keeps the insulation of the body. There are three factors that need to be considered in choosing quality polyester. These are the fleece, bunting and pile. You have to be careful and keen of the kind of polyester you get and the quality that goes with it.

The third layer is called the outer shell. This is the layer that is in direct contact with the outer or external contact. This is the layer that is directly in contact with the sun or the rain and even dust or snow. This is the reason why you really need to check on these following points: waterproof, windproof, seams and zippers. The waterproof characteristic or property of the jacket is very important because it avoids the one wearing it from being wet all over every time it rains. This can be very frustrating for hikers or mountaineers if so. Zippers must also be checked in order to secure your jacket to be close against the winds.

These are the three needed layers that you have to check in order to be assured that your mountain climbing experience is packed with safety and can only be fun and fun.
