subject: Don't Worry - De-stress [print this page] Often times we find ourselves rushing through each day from 1 task to the next, frustrated by the pace and wishing there had been more opportunities to slow down and smell the roses, let alone catch the evening news. So , in case you find yourself thinking "I hope there was only one more hour inside the day" or "if I only didn't really need to sleep I really could get it all done", then potentially it is time to halt the rat race. Here's some new suggestions for putting a stop to the rat race, slowing down and spending time to pay attention to your peace of mind.
First, give yourself time to rest. An excellent trick would be to only plan two or three larger chores a day and allow for plenty of rest time between each one. Make some time for yourself like enjoy a healthy meal, read that book you've been wanting to ready, play with your kids, write a letter to a loved one, and try to slow down long enough to enjoy the world around you. By taking some time between major tasks you will be amazed at much more happy you will be.
Think about what's important in your life! It's easy to overwhelm yourself with activities, book your kids from one lesson to the next, and take on more than what you can reasonably do. Start by saying no to anything that adds stress or doesn't need to be done. Say yes to reclaiming your time!!!
Stop stressing! You can't eliminate stress, but you can recognize your natural way of handling stress. Listen to your body and practice stress relieve exercises that help release tension and bring you back to awareness and productivity. After all, stress is a major contributor to depression and un-happiness.
Delegate more, plan less! If you're the type of person that can't say no and tries to do it all, try asking for help from others in the household and look for opportunities where you can include others in larger projects.
Manager your time more effectively. You'll be amazed at how much time you waste during the day which may be cutting into your time you need to get important tasks completed. Don't beat yourself up, just start being aware of inefficient uses of your time and limit it. So, what are some of these big time wasters? What is a time waster will vary from person to person - you'll need to decide for yourself. Maybe it's spending too much time in front of the TV or on social networking or emails. Make time for singe purposes. Take 20 minutes to reply to emails and don't get distracted during that time with social networking or web surfing. You might consider investing in time management software to help you better track where you are wasting your valuable time.
Remember, this is a process - perfection is not possible. You'll be able to enjoy all the amenities that your apartment has to offer. The slower pace of life means more focus, enabling your life to become more creative, rich, balanced and productive! Happiness comes when you are not spread too thin and trying to be in too many places doing too many things all at the same time.
