subject: Education And Creating Values For America [print this page] Our youth's education today is known as compulsory. What this means is our public and private school sectors for our youth is required by rule. It also means constraining, obligatory, absolute and choice-less. Yet, if education remains compulsory, then what does today's educational system offer and how does that affect America's citizens? Is there a better way to educate our youth and stimulate future generations in creating values for our Nation? Can we fund our education without overtly taxing American citizens who desire the best education for our youth? A study by the Second International Mathematics Study found that the performance of the top 5 percent of U.S. Students is matched by the top 50 percent of students in Japan. This translates a comparison between our brightest and best and smartest American students the top one percent finish at the bottom when measured against the best students from other countries. Why has America fallen so far behind in the quality of America's educational system? Another study shows that only one high school junior out of fifty (2 percent) can write well enough to meet national goals...and less than 10 percent of seventeen-year-olds can do 'rigorous' academic work in 'basic' subjects. Is there a tragedy here? There is if one realizes the importance of educating U.S. Students here in America. It becomes a tragedy when one realizes that U.S. Students are the future, and education will determine how advanced will be future technology and inventions, as well as America's future government. As American citizens we desire living in a country that is the safest, healthiest, and wealthiest country in the world, yet there is academic competition between the world's youth today based on studies and reports. And America's youth today do not get shown the value of being able to create when attending a compulsory educational system. There is much debate, views, and opinions spread throughout the Nation today in offering solutions to the educational crisis the United States is a part of today. In fact, one common thread of opinion is educational reform. The Economist says the reform must overhaul the curriculum...and must deliver better quality education. The article relates how it is going to take more than simply taxing America and using that money to merely provide some opportunities. How is education developed? Today, education is a part of the public sector, and controlled and regulated by the federal, state, and local governments. The curriculum and studies of education is controlled, or compulsory, by ruling regulations that set the bars of standard and America's youth have no choice but must observe and participate in those set guidelines. However, education today needs to be used differently than what is common. As citizens, we realize if something isn't working, we must focus on solutions and ways to have it work for society and our children's future. There is a lack of emphasis on academic learning, while instead giving full attention to strict high stakes testing. In fact, the role the educational system should play in the lives of people is to educate them to be conscious, critically thinking individuals who do not passively accept knowledge but question the knowledge that is being taught to them.4 The fact of the matter, however, is that all America must value the same principles and solutions for education if educational standards are ever going to change in America. But there are many American's today who are moving towards a better educational system for America's youth The Twelve Visions Party. Education has become political in America, and is the fundamental reason why U.S. Education has not advanced but been held back. The reasons why education is political is because education is a substantial vehicle political parties use to gather more votes for upcoming elections. As is noted, many political debates always mention education and making it work and work better but nothing gets done. So what's the point? The point is parents want good education for their children. This is one reason why education is a political target for rule of vote-gathering man. This is why industries such as the medical, business, and other industries are heavily politicized. Unfortunately, as this occurs so does the diminished effectiveness and efficiency of those industries with education being a part of the inefficient political system. Education doesn't become about our youth anymore, but it becomes a point political campaigns use to increase their popularity and voting polls. America's ineffectual educational system exemplifies today's government and the government's ineffectual policies and regulations that hold back industries of America, such as education. This is why education is hindered today, held back from geniuses being born into society. The solution remains with the People, and power has always been in the hands of the populace. The People know how to provide education of value for America's youth, not the politicized government. In fact, the role of the government is to provide the conditions to protect its citizens from harm and initiatory force. The government is a protection-only service, By only protecting the people, not by regulating industries, America's government simply provide the conditions, and guarantees those conditions for happiness and prosperity. However, if the government gets out of the way of the educational system, how will it be funded? Doesn't the taxes America is forced to pay go towards providing more schools and curriculum for today's youth? Not necessarily. Think for a moment what it will be like when everyone is rich, including the poor. America is prosperous, wealthy, healthy, safe, and happy. Then what? The wealth and prosperity of America's citizens leads to a nation-wide smartening-up effect and this leads to a far superior private educational system. Here geniuses are born and developed. Because of technology also not being regulated, America's technology advances like the computer industry did, and drives prices of technology lower and lower. This advanced, higher and cheaper technology will be used as part of America's educational system. This makes it easy for all America's citizens to gladly pay for and support private education. Control is taken out of the hands of political parties only desiring to increase their public voting segments and only care about their own agenda. Alternatively, control is given into the hands of America's citizens, where it was meant to be and in which is the way America's Founding Fathers knew it needed to be. Education becomes free, and citizens learn what freedom truly means. By paying for private education, it becomes a part of the cost of living, which becomes extraordinarily low in the United States. That low cost of living delivers the worlds highest standard of living and produces the worlds best educational system. America today struggles to graduate students who can read. Tomorrow's America that is not politicized, graduates students who can create. They go on to create great values for the world and great wealth and prestige for themselves. The first step in a better educational system isn't blaming the government, however, even though politicized government may be the reason the educational system today is so ineffectual. The reasons why blame is irrelevant is because most American's can come up with many ideas and thoughts of how to make the educational system better because by nature, man wants to create. The first step, then, is to start with ourselves. To teach our youth to create values for society. Only by America stepping up against the politicized government and their social good programs, will real solutions be offered. Nothing can happen until we begin in our own homes first, and with our own children. (Http://tvpnc.org) . Then, America begins to focus on the United States and make the educational system better and with more value for society.
