subject: Self Improvement 5 Secrets About The Big Momentum [print this page]

The big momentum is about having momentum in things which you do. By Newtons law, objects that are in motion tend to stay in motion, objects at rest tends to stay that way unless a force is introduced to counter the object state of movement. Newtons law can be seen in everything which we do. These are 5 secrets about the big momentum.

1. Objects in Motion tend to stay in Motion

You wake up, and the first thing you do is to set your alarm into snooze. You have 3 minutes. You spend it thinking about what you have to get done for the day or you wait to start your body engine to get it to move. You than head into the showers, turn on the tap, start to look for your toothbrush and tooth paste to brush your teeth.

Everything sounds familiar? Welcome into the world of objects in motion. Your day-to-day habits are your objects in motion. Habits which you have developed in the past many years of your life have started to be embedded into your subconscious mind. Whether if it is to brush your teeth, the special way which you eat your food in order, the types of shoes you wear and how you put on your clothes in order, everything which you do with no effort in thinking are your habits which have been developed through momentum.

2. How Momentum is Developed

A habit is developed after constant conscious effort to keep it moving. It usually takes an average person 3 weeks to develop habits, whether good or bad into their subconscious mind.

After the initial 3 week period, the constant conscious effort starts to be run into auto-pilot. Whether if its a small change in terms of your eating habits, the brand new way which you brush your teeth, or your new exercise morning regime, stick to it religiously for 3 weeks, and your body and mind will start to run that activity in auto-pilot.

3. Objects at Rest Tends to Stay at Rest

Seat on a chair for 15 minutes, or worse, put yourself on a couch for 15 minutes with the television running, and your body starts to go into the motion where it stays at rest. Unless a force is generated strong enough to move the object at rest, it will forever remain in that position. This applies towards the bad habits which we have developed for the past number of years.

The plan to exercise shall not be carried out unless enough force and action takes place to make it happen. And even if it does happen, if the force is not strong enough, the object will come towards a stop.

4. The Initial Force

You can call this is motivating factor, or the factor which drives your actions to complete a goal or task. If the driving force is not strong enough, the object will eventually run out of energy and go towards a rest point.

Having said this, the driving force must be strong enough to be carried out for 3 consecutive weeks to develop the auto-pilot mode which we all desire. This is when your Why comes into place. Your why is more important than your how, if you do not develop a strong enough why and go straight into the how, the force will not be strong enough to drive you through the 3 weeks.

5. The how Factor

You can see the how factor as opportunities or events which are used in order to drive your habits. They are the vehicles of your success. However, without the why, which is your fuel, you cannot run the how.

Summary

Once the 3 weeks have passed, you will start to gain a slight momentum. Imagine this as a way where your habits start to snowball down the hill. You push a snowball up a hill from a small ball, slowly but painfully, you reach the summit. At the peak of the summit, you see a never ending slope. From there, everything else becomes easy. You tip the small snowball which you have created down the slope and it begins to run, faster and faster, becoming bigger and bigger.

Imagine that snowball as your habits acting as part of your sub conscious mind. Those are your routines which you do daily and how the way you lead your life. If you do not put in conscious effort to change your daily routine and habits, you most likely will remain it that way.

You have been given the how. It is now time to develop your why. Do this, and the big momentum will come into your life gradually.
