Well, so it would seem!

Not that i've ever had to have my iphone repaired. But, I remember there being an episode of watchdog that dealt with the fact that iphone were reluctant to check the water damage indicators on broken or faulty iphones, the water damage indicators being a strip of colour changing material, located inside the charger port, and the headphone jack...almost like litmus paper. And, being a proper stick in the mud, as apple often is when it came to repair a phone, they would refuse to do it under the user warranty.

It would seem that not only were the moisture detection strips too sensitive, but Apple would rarely check them before rejecting the phone for repair, leaving people with costly bills to try and get their beloved phone up and running again. Bit of a shoddy affair really, considering the cost of the darn things!

I've often wondered about being able to perform your own repairs - I used to do it to microsoft based phones, all the time! But, then, unlike the iphone, you could actually get into them fairly easily. I've never wanted to take the risk with my iphone..so I've never tried, and I'm sure there are many people who wouldn't, kind of leaving a hole of knowledge on how to actually do it...
