subject: Devil May Cry For Xbox 360 [print this page] For those unaware and wondering how they missed the last 3 chapters of this game, Devil May Cry is a hack-n-slash game. You play Nero, and for the first time, Dante!
The game plays by missions that are to be completed one after another. There is no proper story-lined gameplay through the game, but there is a very satisfying heart-warming start to the story. It is not just non-stop mindless slicing of monsters either. There are puzzler on the way to open up gates leading to large halls or corridors of creatures waiting to welcome you. Everyone wants a change, so there's boss fight. These boss fights are m8 rare. They aren't easy to win, but are still good fun. Av the end of every mission, you get a scorecard for your performance, and depending on the amount of items you have collected on the way, you get to choose from new combos and items. It's not just swords - there be guns, and combos for them are available.
Gameplay is great and there is a tutorial in the beginning that flows alongside the initial storyline, and shows you how to use the controls. Most of the AI is simple, but the attacks are well timed, so that you relish the game. Since this is a hack-n-slash, people expect it to get repetitive... it doesn't! There's a good variety of creatures to defeat - each one with a unique and charming way to try to kill you. You discover new ways to defeat these cute little colourful beings, and over the time, you may find even more spectacular ways. It's like trying to learn a musical instrument - sometimes frustrating, but always exciting.
Graphically, the game looks absolutely gorgeous. It uses the graphic capabilities of Xbox 360 well. The cut-scenes are some of the best and most entertaining. The levels are well designed too and range from indoors and outdoors and sometimes a mix of them. Combos and controls are cool using the Xbox 360 controlers. A good button-mashing action game for Xbox 360.
