A Fast Way to Lose Weight: Is Just the Marketer's Hook

Ever feel like advertisers will say anything to sell their products? I do. How many times have dieters been promised a fast way to lose weight only to find this promise is only the tasty bait on the end of a long hook?

The diet industry is a millions of dollars per year business. Most companies are in it to make money, and then more money. They make, advertise and sell products designed to prey on the hopes and wallets of dieters everywhere.

The Common Thread of Most Diet Plans

The catch is one product usually leads to another. Don't believe it? Think about the last commercial you saw for that most popular of fat loss support groups. There was a fee to join the group. You have to pay to join the club, okaythey have to make money somewhere.

It doesn't stop there. Next clients are faced with impossibly complicated meal plans that can be purchased in prepackaged boxes conveniently delivered right to the doorstep. Then there are the snack offerings and information books, DVDs and exercise manuals to purchase.

The Diet Cycle Continues

It seems like joining fees are just the tip of the iceberg. Then when the weight loss is complete and the battle is won, where does it leave the dieter?

I'll tell you where: in an impossible spot. Success was almost completely reliant upon those prepackaged meals and snacks. A return to real life eating was never really learned, discussed and generally shrugged aside.

As real life habits are resumed, pounds pile right back on as if they had only been sent away for camp during summer break.

Dieter's Revolution

What really keeps diet industry execs up at night is that some day their clients will wise up and realize the hamster wheel they've been stuck running along for years. Dieters can do all the needed cooking, exercising and healthy snack planning on their own.

In fact, the do-it-yourself approach is much the preferred way to actually locate a fast way to lose weight and keep it off for good. Learning how to grocery shop, set up a waist-friendly cupboard and how to really control portions will create success for everyone but the diet industry.

Every dieter who learns how to manage healthy eating habits on their own is one less client wondering the frozen food section scanning for frosty boxes labeled "diet", "low Calorie", "light" or "fat free".

Every dieter who understands the difference in healthy potential between pure food choices and any food packed in a box, can or baggie is one less customer packing a meal substitute protein drink for lunch.

In short, every dieter that knows how to create meals at home from basic ingredients is one less repeat customer. These one-time yo-yo dieters graduate instead to a healthy lifestyle and dress size forever.
