subject: Home Improvements Focus On New Bathrooms [print this page]

There is a new trend sweeping through the sophisticated media stars across the world having a bath in one of the other rooms of your house. When you think of this as a concept you think of an illicit weekend away but apparently it is something that many celebs have in the houses. Inspired often by hotels they have stayed at these new additions to the bedroom or even the balcony are attracting buyers to houses as well as being a unique selling point to a property.

There is a particular hotel, Babington House hotel in Somerset, which has taken the concept and transformed its image with it. Three of the 32 rooms have baths by the beds and Room Six apparently Madonnas favourite has one on the balcony.

People increasingly want their own homes to be like the hotels where they stayed on holiday especially the bathrooms, it is that thought of being able to bring a little bit of luxury into everyday living. People who have already made the change have said that it really makes them notice that a bath doesnt have to be in a poky places where you are constantly knocking yourself against a mouldy shower door. People want luxury, scented candles and shelves full of gorgeous bath products.

It is perhaps the lack of excess funds that has created this need for movie star bathing but this bedroom bathroom merger is also seen as extremely cool and an excellent solution to modern living where there is often a space constraint. After all no one likes to have a pokey bathroomtherefore if you want to be able to languish in a bath perhaps putting it in the bedroom is the answer.

The obvious downside is that water can ruin your carpets, so you may have to re floor at least part of the bedroom with stone or wood surfaces. However in this tight property market everyone is looking for the wow factor when they come to sell their home, and this can add value. One point to take note of is that you ought to have another bathroom in case buyers are not keen on the style.

This new use of space has its limitations though. Whats good for an up market couple may not work as well for a family of four. After all you might not want your six year old coming into the bedroom whilst you are in the bath or indeed having your teenage offspring hogging the bath whilst you are looking for something to wear!
