How To Backup Your Wordpress Database Hosted Through GoDaddy

Have you backed up your blog lately? It is important to backup your database, just in case your blog gets compromised or corrupt. If you are using GoDaddy to host your WordPress blog, here are the simple steps to backing up your data.

1. Login to your GoDaddy account.

After you are logged in, go to the left hand side bar and choose My Products, Hosting.

2. Go to Products > Web Hosting.

In this section, choose the domain name (hosting account) you want to backup. Then click the bright green launch button. You should now be redirected to a new window. This is the Hosting Control Center.

3. Click on the Database section.

In the Hosting Dashboard, there are 3 sections at the top - files, domains and email. Scroll down until you see the section titled Database and click on it.

4. Click on the SQL icon.

In GoDaddy, your data is stored in a SQL database. This database holds your templates, blog posts, essentially all of your blog data. Click the SQL icon and it will show you a list of your databases.

5. In My SQL, choose the database

Click on the Edit/View details button.

6. Click on the Backup button.

Depending on how large your database is, it could take up to 2 hours to backup your data. The backup is stored through Godaddy.
