The social media set is extremely huge and network marketers are taking full advantage of the opportunity to market their products and service for FREE. Facebook, Twitter and MySpace are among the top websites. These entrepreneurs are seeking to generate leads and acquire new customers by targeting the millions of people who visit these websites daily. There are people making significant amounts of money due to the emergence of these free social media websites, it's a great idea however it requires skill to work effectively. The social media scene is a colossal and the amount of people who visit an frequent these sites are nearly infinite.
The purpose of this article is to share with you some dos and don'ts secrets. Facebook is a giant among giants. You can literally reach millions of people and YouTube maybe the only other social website that is bigger than Facebook. You have to remain visible if you want to succeed, and what better way is there than millions of people as an audience. As great as it sounds remember I did say there were rules, you can just show up at a party and start peddling your products. These websites were designed to be a a place to reconnect with old friends and to establish bonds and meet new friends or associates.
This doesn't mean that you can't discuss your line of work or business proposal. I am however, telling you that Facebook and some of the other websites consider it spam if you contact someone and push your products and/or services off on them. You could have your account banned and/or suspended. Plus, if you get a reputation as a spammer, that type of bad press travels quickly don't you think? Don't just answer the question think about it for a second, what type of news travels the fastest? Good news travels pretty quickly bit bad news moves like a raging fire! Now another question, why? People are fascinated by disappointment, just think about how many times in your life that something bad happened. Everyone in the neighborhood knew about it. Just watch the 11:00 news any night of the week nearly 80-90% of what they report is bad news, it's almost depressing.
What does this have to do with Facebook and the other social media sites? You don't want to mess around and have the reputation as the spam guy/gal, Face book has millions of users and what would happen to your business if just 1% of them gave you bad press. Facebook was created to be a social media website first I beg you to get this embedded into your head first. Socialize first then market second. Introduce yourself, don't just send random friend request to strangers. A lot of individuals will message you back anyway, "Do I know you?" Connect with the people the way you would at a party or social event. You will find that people are more interested to what you talking about once they know you and trust you.
This is how I look at it, imagine getting invited to a dinner party. Just like on Facebook every type of person you can think of is here (short, tall, fat skinny, rich, poor etc.). Now what do you think would happen if you walked around that room and said "Hi my name is Dave I have this great product it's in pre-launch now you must try it, it will make you rich." This is truly the quickest way to assure you will never get another invitation. The same thing applies to these social sites, you will be removed from a friend list or un-followed quicker than you can imagine. Now the proper way to handle this is to work the room and introduce yourself, engage in some idle chit chat and maybe leave your business card. If during conversation you have an opportunity to discuss what you do than by all means take it, but don't lead with it.
