It's the big day. Today's my very first day on the very low calorie portion of the diet. I'm on the prescription HCG diet. And I'll be honest...it's really quite tough. Partway through the day I realized that I wasn't drinking enough water. That's something that I definitely need to work on.
Right away after I woke up, the first thing I did (on the day after Thanksgiving) was weigh myself. I bet there aren't too many people out there who jump out of bed the day after Thanksgiving and weigh themselves. I was up one pound from the day before; at 171 pounds. I've been loading for two days so I figure that's to be expected. I gave myself my prescription HCG injection and took my oral B-Total drops. Then I offered the kids an after Thanksgiving day leftover breakfast feast in an attempt to get rid of all the yummy stuff I wouldn't be able to eat. Whatever they didn't eat...I threw out.
I knew that I wouldn't be able to withstand that particular temptation so I got rid of it entirely. Then I had a glass of water. I also had some Green Tea. I tried sweetening it with Vanilla Creme stevia. It's okay, but it's not something I would prefer on a regular basis. Herbal teas are pretty much the only freebie on the prescription HCG diet besides water.
When it comes to drinking tons of water...I figured it would be hard to go wrong since one of the most common mistakes is not getting enough water while on the diet. When lunch rolled around I was really ready to eat. And I didn't have anything ready. Lesson 1: prepare lunch before you're starving.
When I finally had it finished and ready to eat I inhaled my lunch. The kids are home from school for the Thanksgiving holiday so they got to eat "normal" food and that made it more difficult for me to stick to my diet. They wanted grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch and I felt like a martyr while I cooked them up and then turned to my Romaine lettuce and tomato salad.
Along with my basic salad I had some grilled chicken. I just used non-stick cooking spray in a grilling pan on the stovetop to cook it. I used Creole Seasoning on the chicken. (It was listed as approved according to the diet protocol). And several of the reviews/testimonials had specifically mentioned that it was really good. And it was not just good; it was great! It might be my new favorite seasoning. Since Creole flavor had never been something I included in my cooking I was surprised at how much I liked it.
I added strawberries as my fruit for lunch. The kids got to dip their's in chocolate, but strawberries are really very good without the addition. At least that's what I kept telling myself as I watched them laughing and dripping chocolate on their chins.
For dinner Lisa dropped by and we made Shake and Bake Tilapia (from the HCG Diet Direct Recipe Guide). It was fantastic!
Non-dieters at the table even agreed that the fish was really, really good. So I don't think we liked it just because Lisa and I were hungry. So that was the first day. I think it went well. I hope tomorrow goes just as well.
