If you're looking to keep it light, Denver has an amusement park downtown. There's also the beautiful Denver Zoo. These may seem a bit on the mild side, but I personally prefer first dates with ample opportunity for conversation and to get to watch someone's reaction to things. There's also a certain whimsical quality surrounding amusement parks and zoos. They make me feel young, carefree, and idealistic again. I like that part of the date. If my date doesn't like it, I know right away the path could be rocky. One piece of advice I've found that when I go to amusement parks, the rides and entertainment can be very eclectic. Make sure you don't get stuck watching a ukulele rendition of The Nutcracker or something really out there, there is a lot more to do. Well, if ukuleles are your thing, I guess that's appropriate. Personally, I stay away from anything too far off the beaten path. Either venue already has enough unique opportunity to engage in conversation and discussion. I don't need something like that cluttering my day.
If your date has an artistic side, check out one of Denver's infamous Art Districts. Galleries abound in a number of artsy areas in Denver. A little research and some well-worded interrogation of your date and you can be off and running. Be it classical or hip, structured or free, there are arts exploration opportunities for literally every taste in Denver.
