The internet is full of copycats and people who are trying to approach leadership status by mimicking the steps of those who are successful. Yes, you can utilize the methods of leaders but you must display them in your own unique way. The more you can stand out from the crowd, the greater will be your success. Do you think if I developed another "Coke" can and filled it with soda, it would be successful? Of course not. That's because people will gravitate towards the brand that has been around longer and the one in which they feel more comfortable. It is the same with the internet. Leaders in the internet marketing industry draw loyal followers to their brand. If you create a slightly different version of their brand, it will never grow.
Don't be afraid to create a distinct brand around who you are and your ideals in life. If you stay true to yourself, it will automatically be unique because you are unique to the world. Sometimes we are afraid of failing when we start out so we copy the strategies we already deem successful. I give people applicable systems in my "Accelerated Internet Success System" to help them succeed in their internet businesses. It's OK to implement these proven methods and I applaud anyone who will invest the time to do so, but it's not OK to mimic a brand. Your personality, communication and style make up your brand message, whether you are comical, reserved or charitable. You will become a leader in this industry much faster if you recognize and develop your unique message.
If you feel stuck figuring out what you bring to the table, consider answering these questions:
What do you feel you have to offer the world?
What do you like about yourself?
What are your strengths?
What type of personality do you have?
In one word how would other people describe you?
Gather all of the words from these answers and join them into one cohesive message. When you are designing your website, social media profiles or writing your "About me" page and profiles, remember these traits and join them to your business. Over time, it will become your brand and this is how people will identify you. It will slowly develop you as a leader because it will not look like anyone else, but will be the best representation of who you are, and nobody can be a better you than you!
