Basic Electronic Cigarette Safety

Electronic cigarettes are very safe devices, especially compared to tobacco cigarettes. These devices do not combust anything. They heat a liquid stored on a reservoir into a vapor which is inhaled by the user. This vapor contains none of the chemicals that are characteristic of tobacco combustion. They also produce no ash, which means that they don't constitute the fire hazard that tobacco cigarettes entail. There are some basic electronic cigarette safety rules, however, that you'll do well to follow.

Electronic cigarettes charge off of several different devices. They include USB chargers and wall chargers. When you're using the USB charger, be sure that the cigarette is supported on a solid surface. Some chargers have cords that allow you to position the battery on top of the computer or on the table. Don't leave it dangling from your USB port. It's bad for the USB port and may pull on the wiring in the charger.

Basic electronic cigarette safety includes some obvious caveats, such as not allowing the devices to come into contact with water. If your e-cigarette gets wet, allow it to dry out for a while before using it. Detach the cartomizer and let the device and the cartomizer sit on a paper towel or napkin to dry out.

The e-fluid and the fluid that comes preloaded into cartomizer are both threats to children and animals. Electronic cigarette safety, possibly more than anything else, means keeping the nicotine away from young ones and pets. Nicotine is a toxin and it can severely harm children and animals. Keep the nicotine-containing parts of your device and your nicotine fluid at a cool temperature and away from the reach of children and animals.

Electronic cigarettes that have a draw-through activation system allow you to avoid having the e-cig turn on accidentally in your pocket. If you're dangling it outside the window of a moving vehicle, however, it may turn on the device. If you're e-cigarette gets warm in your hand while you're holding it but not drawing on it, detach the cartomizer and give it a few taps on a hard surface to reset the switch. This works with most models.

When you drag on your cigarette, you should get a nice, smooth draw with good flavor. If the draw becomes harsh, it may mean that the liquid is depleted and that its time to change or refill your cartridge.
