Puppy Obedience Training helps in stopping biting and nipping

Small children have a lot of similarities to puppies.

Kids feel like biting all kinds of things, from sheets and linens to other things like soap and shoes, while puppies display similar behaviors, biting objects that interest them, including fingers and toes.

Training puppies in obedience can help puppies learn not to nip and bite people, even if they have been doing so in the past.

Since the desire to bite and put things in their mouths happens after puppies realize they have teeth, it is a strong suggestion to teach them to not bite as one of their early lessons.

Once puppies learn their obedience commands, you can use them to direct their behavior and teach them what you want them to do and what they are not to do.

Using training to stop the urge to bite is the best way to keep the puppy from getting in the habit of biting.

Don't allow the puppy to nip or bite, but instead firmly give the puppy a command to stop his biting.

Scaring the puppy is not necessary, nor do you want to punish your puppy. Simply raise your voice somewhat and speak firmly.

Another way to correct your puppy is by stopping all play and activity with the puppy after he bites. You could also command him to do something else like sitting when he bites.

While training your puppy, you must be consistent and make sure you don't let the puppy "slide" or get away with any biting. Otherwise, he will learn he can get away with it.

Keep in mind, though, that your puppy is like a little kid and will sometimes forget from the excitement of play. If he bites during play, give him something to bite after correcting him for biting your hand or skin.

Once all the training is learned and your puppy is not biting, he can play with everyone in the family without worry and everyone can have fun safely.
