subject: Enjoy The Outdoor Lifestyle In Darwin [print this page]

Right on the shores of the Timor Sea, you will find Darwin, one of the most important Australian cities on the northern coast. The great climate, the sweet weather, and the relaxed, low key atmosphere, are what make Darwin such a great tourist destination. There are so many things to try in Darwin that a short vacation just won't do. If you choose to travel to Darwin for the holidays, don't forget to try a bit of kangaroo, crocodile or buffalo dishes.

Darwin is especially appreciated because of its location and its climate. There are only two seasons all year round, a dry one and a wet one. The wet one corresponds with what we call winter and spring, while the dry season stretches from May until October. The dry season is favored by tourists because the wet season can be a little hard to bear if you are not used to it.

Darwin is a great gateway towards many of the attractions located in the northern part of Australia, which include the Litchfield National Park and the Kakadu National Park. You can also get from here to Katherine Gorge, Tiwi Islands or Arnhem Land. Tour charters leave from Darwin regularly and you may like to experience a crocodile tour on Adelaide River. A place that you will find really great is represented by Mindil Beach Sunset Markets, where vendors display their best foods and sell traditional goods.

Here are some of the most sought after attractions in Darwin. One is the Crocodylus Park, which is actually a museum where you can learn about everything there is to learn about these amazing creatures. Other animals are showcased too; you will be able to see dingoes, snakes, lizards or wombats, along with many species of crocodile. Also, you should not miss a trip to Acquascene at Doctor's Gully, where you can feed wild fish. This is only possible when the tides come in a certain pattern, so ask ahead for the best times to be there. Another kind of feeding takes place at the Crocodile Farm where crocodiles are bred for skins that make wonderful leather for all kinds of leather goods.

Darwin is a place rich in natural wonders. The Territory Wildlife Park is located within a short drive from the city, and is nothing less than bush land where different species of animals and plants live. Here you can also admire the natural lagoons and take a look at the aviary.

A special place in Darwin is represented by the Majestic Orchids farm, where over 300,000 flowers bloom yearly. The orchids are grown on a two hectare surface and are incredibly beautiful.

If you want to indulge in a relaxing afternoon, there is no better way to do it then by taking a stop at the Wharf Precinct. The restaurant offers beautiful views over the waters and the meals served here are really delicious.

There are many other places to see in Darwin, Australia, as these are but a few. Take a trip there when you have the time as it will be worth your time.
