If your children are systematically ruining your home with mess, then you may have lost the will to live. But there are some quick and easy tips to help you clean off any stains they may have caused, ready for another day.
If there is biro on clothes, bad the ink with a hydrogen peroxide solution, and put straight in the washing machine. Alternatively, you can dab the stain with shaving foam or hairspray to lift it. Hairspray also works particularly well if there is biro on the leather sofa.
If crayon is your child's weapon of choice, then you will know the waxy consistency of a crayon is very difficult to remove. Try spraying WD40 on the crayon stain, and it should lift it. Alternatively, try rubbing a fabric softener sheet, intended for the tumble dryer on the stain. It works!
Luckily, most felt tips have been designed with the forethought of children, so are machine washable. If the pen has got on clothes, rub it with milk, and then wash. The stain will disappear.
If your child has upped the ante and started using oil based paint, then you can defeat the stain using a mix of equal parts ammonia and turpentine. Saturate the stain for a few minutes and then wash with warm soapy water.
Make sure that you have valid Home Insurance if you own a property. This will protect you against theft and accidental damage so you don have to fork out for expensive remedial work.
