Lastly, there is required a three year program of internal medicine and an additional three additional years in cardiology. Once all of this is completed, a licensing exam is given, so that the physician can then practice medicine.
The daily responsibilities of a cardiologist are comprehensive and challenging. Here is a list of some of those responsibilities:

Examine patients; checking for symptoms of heart problems, with the use of medical instruments
Prescribe needed medications and recommend physical and dietary changes
Treat diseases of the heart

Perform research and necessary administrative work.
Cardiologists work in hospitals, universities, private clinics and intensive care units. In addition, some cardiologists work intensively in research offices; seeking new ways to treat heart disease and working hard to improve and create new pacemakers and other life-saving innovations.
