Over the review period, the German construction equipment market recorded a CARC (compound annual rate of change) of -5.40%, largely due to slowdown in construction activities in the residential and commercial construction markets. Germany is the second largest exporter of construction equipment after the United States, and therefore the slowdown in its export markets had a severe impact on the countrys overall construction equipment market. In 2009, construction equipment turnover stood at US$6.1 billion, a figure which represented a decline of 49.0% in comparison with the value from the previous year. However, throughout the forecast period, the construction equipment market is expected to improve as a result of economic recovery and government stimulus measures. The German government announced a series of stimulus packages in 2009, which from the second half of 2010, began to demonstrate a positive impact on the market. In addition, the US$66 billion stimulus package announced by Germany in January 2009 will provide the market with a much needed boost. During the forecast period, WMI expects the German construction equipment market to register a CAGR of 9.54%, to value US$10.9 billion in 2015.
