subject: How To Download All Latest Drivers And Speed Up Slow Pc [print this page]

When you add new hardware to your computer, you must add different types of hardware device drivers. The latest device drivers will make sure all your external hardware runs correctly on your computer. For example, the video driver connects your monitor to your computer.

What are drivers?

They are the translators between hardware devices and your operating system. For example, your mouse does not automatically connect to the computer. It has to be installed first and the driver is what makes it run correctly. Even your plug n play devices have to have them in order to work. The only difference is plug n play is already installed.

How do the drivers work?

When you use a device, you are not directly interacting with the device. Instead, you are interacting with the computer. The computer then uses the driver to translate what you are doing; this produces the desired result. Since the drivers run quickly and efficiently in the background, most users will never have to interact with the driver after it is installed.

What are the most common types of drivers?

Mouse Driver - Generally, when you buy a mouse, it has plug n play features. You will not need to install them directly (most of the time) because it comes installed on your computer.

Keyboard Driver - The keyboard is also an input device that allows you to input information and move the cursor around the screen. On laptops, the keyboard is already installed and on PCs the keyboards are plug n play. Either way, you should not have to install the drivers directly.

Printer Driver - The printer is an output device. Most printers come with a CD to install the drivers. This was very important before Windows 7. With Windows 7, more and more printers are plug n play. Therefore, anyone using an earlier version of Windows will need to install themselves and Windows 7 users will not.

Video (Monitor) Drivers - The monitor is an output device. While most monitors are plug n play now, some do come with an installation CD. The CD is necessary if your version of Windows does not have the drivers needed to work the monitor.

Bluetooth Drivers - Once Bluetooth was only used for cell phones. Now, computer users can use Bluetooth technology for hands free computer use. Each Bluetooth device will come with its own installation CD. You will need to install each driver for each Bluetooth device you intend to use with the computer

How to install the latest drivers for all your devices.

Since all your devices will require periodic updates, each of the manufacturer's will put out new drivers for your computer. The easiest way to keep up to date on all of them is by using driver update software. It will automatically scan your computer looking for outdated drivers. Then it will download and install the latest device drivers for your computer.
