Two Great Gifts For Family

Tis the season to give, and what better way to show someone you care than by giving something they can really use. The two items I'm suggesting may be a tad expensive for casual giving, but these two gift items could be really useful for someone close to you.

Butterball Indoor Turkey Fryer

What gift could be better than to give during the Holiday Season than a turkey fryer, especially one that's specifically designed to be used indoors?! The one I'm talking about is made by the Butterball people so it's got to be a winner! The Butterball Indoor Turkey Fryer is a countertop appliance designed to safely fry a 14 pound turkey in less than an hour. You can also use it to steam fish, chicken, or your favorite vegetables. It's different from other turkey fryers in that it uses a submerged electric heating element with sixteen hundred and fifty watts of power. In combination with the dual thermostats, your cooking temperature will be exact every time you fry or steam.

Because it uses less oil that old fashioned turkey fryers, your finished turkey will contain less fat and be far healthier than before. It also comes with a cooking basket so you can fry up doughnuts, french fries, onion rings or any other of your favorite fried foods. Clean-up is easy because the inner pot is porcelain coated and there's a built-in drain valve as well.

This gift is great for the giver because chances are they will get to enjoy fried turkey and other foods on more than one occasion. A super gift for family for around $175.

Heat Surge Amish Heater

Actually, the real name of this product is the Heat Surge Roll-n-Glow Electric Fireplace. This is the unit that, in addition to having an As Seen On TV commercial, you'll may have already seen in full page ads in major newspapers. This is basically a small 2 ft X 2.5 ft electric floor heater on wheels. This product has several neat features, the best of which is that it gives you the flicker of a real fire, but without the fumes, smells or mess. It adjusts to either 750 or 1,500 watts of heat output, and the heat is pushed by an almost silent turbine fan. The Heat Surge has the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval and is certified by Underwriters Laboratories.

I guess what I find attractive about this "Amish Heater" is that you can purchase it with four different wood finishes, each handcrafted and finished by Amish craftsmen in Ohio. So, not only is it functional and moveable, but it's attractive and can fit into any decor.

My reason for including this as a "Hot Holiday Gift" is that I think we all have older or elderly family members for whom the ducted heat sometimes isn't quite enough. Most of them have gone to the local big box store and bought the cheapest electric floor heater they could find and put it right in front of where they most often sit. This would be a great gift item that they would certainly enjoy...not only for the warmth, but for the true fireplace effect. A neat gift idea!
