Anxiety Symptoms

Anxiety has been part of daily lives. Some may find it weird if someone says he is not anxious about anything. Some people of the academe teach that we should trust in the Almighty one to avoid such burdens. As I poured over hundreds of websites, reading on the many symptoms, it showed that it affects different parts of the whole body: chest region, emotions, playing on fear, the head, hearing, the mind, the mood, and mouth, the skin, sleeping habits, sight and touch. From the looks of it, unconsciously many have suffered one of these many symptoms.

We often find it human nature to worry or feel tense. Be it for a job interview, a speech we have to make, feel butterflies in the stomach in intense situations or even scared when we are undergoing pressure. Like Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, it is also the response of the body to danger. It is helpful in a sense that, it helps us keep focused on a task at hand, prompt us to act upon a stimulus or make us decide quickly and think faster, but when it starts to meddle with your life, relationships and other activities, then it begins to become a disorder. From the normal worry attacks, it becomes an anxiety disorder.

Symptoms may vary from one person to the other. They all look the same. If a symptom is present in one person, another subject may not have it. Emotional symptoms include feelings of dread, always anticipating the worst thing that could happen, restlessness and irritability. People around will be the first to notice in this sudden change, in behavior. Physical symptoms due to anxiety happen like, dryness of skin, the heart pounding hard, excessive sweating, tremors and twitches, muscle tensions, difficulty in sleeping and shortness of breath. At times, it leads to heart attacks, terrible headaches and over fatigue. Others include weight loss, loss of appetite and energy.

Unlike, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, there is a situation or terrible incident that keeps on replaying on a person's head. Anxiety attacks just get triggered no matter what situation may arise. Even if, it maybe just a simple situation for as long as your body and mind react to it, then one is experiencing an attack. Avoiding places or situations that one knows will trigger an attack is also a symptom. Now, it is better seek medical advice once one feels that these attacks are getting to happen more often than it used to be and if it is gradually increasing its impact on your day-to-day routines.

PTSD is a disorder that is now treated by medication and therapy. Anxiety disorders when treated, is by the patient attending a series of therapy sessions. It is much quicker to treat than PTSD. Comparatively, a symptom becomes visible faster than PTSD. Treatment for anxiety disorder may also come from managing activities, setting a clear time table, seeking ones help and talking about things that bother a person. Well-trusted people, like family and friends, can help to cure this disorder. Many researchers have compiled a lot of information to educate us about how to manage anxiety disorders.
