Does Hard disk player require the suitable partition format of the hard disk

Hard disk player now has become the absolute mainstream product, but many persons don't know clearly whether theHDDmedia playersupports some partition formats.

According to the current popular operating system, there are four types common partition formats. They are FAT16, FAT32, NTFS and Linux. FAT is the short name of File Allocation Table. It means "file allocation table". It is about the internal hard disk partition management.

With the emergence of large-capacity hard drive, FAT32 began to be pop starting from windows98. It is an enhanced version of FAT16. FAT32 can support 2TB (2048G) partition. FAT32 uses smaller clusters than FAT16 and effectively saves hard disk space.

NTFS format is the short name of New Technology File System. It's a standard file system of Microsoft Windows NT, and it is also applied to Windows 2000/XP/2003. The main difference between FAT format and NTFS format is that NTFS supports metadata, and NTFS format can use advanced data structures to provide better performance, stability, and disk utilization. There are three versions of NTFS: version 1.2 in NT 3.51 and NT 4, version 3.0 in Windows 2000 and version 3.1 in Windows XP. In compatibility, Windows 95/98/98SE and ME version can not recognize NTFS file system. NTFS also supports file encryption management capabilities to provide users with a higher level of security assurance.

Hard drive player can support MP4 video file format is divided into MP4 media players and MP5 media players according supporting video file format. And early HDD media player can not even support mp4 file format.

Because the hard disk media players use hard disk to store video files. So there is also the problem which format hard drive media players support. Usually mp4 hard disk media players need the FAT32 format and MP5 hard disk media players need the NTFS format, but NTSC format is recommended.

If the media player only supporting FAT32 format but actually using NTSC format, hard disk media player will not find the file in this hard disk. The formatting tool coming with Windows XP operating system can't format the hard drive large to 32GB to FAT32 format and only format to NTFS format. If now you format the hard disk larger than 32G, MP4 hard disk media player will not support the format and can not work. So this moment you must use the dedicated software to format, such as PQ8.5 the format tool.

MP5 player currently has not the hard disk format restrictions. The HDD media player now in the market is MP5 media player, and MP4 hard disk player has been extremely rare. So it's easier to choose. If you want to buy a hard drive player, you no longer need to consider the problem which partition format the hard disk media player can support.
