Energy and the Emerging Paradigm of Health Care

Energy That is the name of the game. In spite of our energy "crisis" and our "depleting" energy, there is nothing that is not energy at its basis. Albert Einstein postulated that all matter is energy.

As human beings we are matter that is animated made energetic. In addition to the inert energy that is contained in matter, we, as live organisms have the oportunity to move through the physical plane and interpret expressions of energy, as well as transmit expressions of energy. We are each expressing or transmitting a frequency of energy. We are like high-power cables who are able to think and direct our energy very specifically. And there are no two of us alike. Some of us are similar and we like being with people who are similar. Each one of us is transmitting a different vibration or frequency of energy. We channel this energy into activities that are very specific to our desires and needs. We are all experiencing and interpreting the energy frequencies around us, transmitting, creating and interpreting infinite variety.

All thoughts and actions are comprised of energy and we interpret energy in the words, actions and vibrations of those around us all the time. We are able to read a room or another individual without talking to them. We are able to feel the atmosphere of a place as soon as we walk in to it. All activities and thoughts of our life take energy. It takes energy to have a conversation with someone whose energy is not in alignment with our own. It takes energy to interpret the energy of another. We are always expending energy. And we receive energy from the food we eat and from a variety of activities that I will discuss later.

Medicine In our present-day paradigm humans typically barrel through our lives unconsciously without taking care of ourselves. Then we crash or break down. Once there is a break-down of the body, we go to the doctor, get the x-ray, the MRI, receive the diagnosis, receive the surgery, get the radiation, then go back to the status quo of our lives without ever addressing energy. What caused the crash? How was I feeling in the weeks, months or even years befoe the breakdown? Could emotions have anything to do with how my body is doing now? What do the physical symptoms have to tell me about my energy? If the energy is not addressed, the same thing will happen again. Something will break down again. Maybe not next week or next year, and maybe the breakdown will not look like the previous breakdown. But we must come to terms with the fact that our lives are made up not only of physical activities we can see, we are also having an "energetic experience," in other words, a "vibrational experience."

Emerging Paradigm Examine for a moment our recent collective medical journey. We are increasingly creating diseases that baffle doctors, for which there is no known cure only long-term maintenance through harsh chemical drugs. Many diseases like cancer, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, lupus, HIV and AIDS are managed over many years. Many times the treatment is not comfortable as is the case with chemotherapy for cancer, but at least the disease does not kill the organism right now. The ultimate goal of these treatments: don't die! These treatments tend to be exhorbitantly expensive with diminishing returns to the "quality of life."

Many of us believe this is the price we pay for our fast-paced life. We are grateful that we have medical technology that is working to keep pace with our breakdowns. We are somewhat proud to define ourselves in terms of our diseases "I suffer from Lupus but it is well managed with steriods." We don't believe that there is a way out of this limiting way of life.

However, there are others of us who are aware that it is time to start addressing energy. We want a better quality life, and we are finding that the antidote for this ever-increasing downward-spiral of less-than-perfect-health is to take control of our health. We are learning to be conscious of what we eat. We are inspired to get exercise. The media is getting on board and we are being socialized into more and more of this type of "conscious living." Those who are living more consciously are reaping great rewards. It feels good to set goals and see yourself accomplish them. It feels good to take care of yourself. We are discovering that we have been looking for love in all the wrong places. We realize we must first have a good relationship with ourselves, making a conscious effort to know ourselves and our needs. Showing ourselves love and respect is the first step to allowing a loving and respectful relationship in our lives.

We are BodyMindSpirit entities, whole and complete. It is hard to compartmentalize these three aspects of ourselves. Nevertheless, we try to do so, and we succceed at a tremendous expense to the organism. It takes a lot of energy to shut out one or more of these aspects of ourselves. Sometimes we even try to shut out all three, as in the case when we are in extreme pain. Sometimes the body does this for us by putting us into shock, but other times we work very hard to ignore or deny signals that our bodies are transmitting. Usually the Body is the first thing that people ignore, and Spirit is second. To be really happy people we have to experience balance and unity of these three "body-energies." The goal is to be aware of all three body-energies, and to feel comfort in all three, without feeling like one is in distress, or is compensating for another, or is breaking down in any way. Having this balance requires an honest look at ourselves, without being overly critical, to assess the condition of your Body, Mind, and Spirit.

The amazing thing is, it doesn't matter which aspect of your BodyMindSpirit you choose to address and change. When you make the decision to change one aspect, the whole system is changed and feels better. For instance, when you make a decision to help your Body by eating better or exercising, your Mind and Spirit experience the relief as you move and change. As your Mind becomes stronger, you may make a decision to read a book which further inspires you to additional changes. You may decide to meditate or take walks in nature to feed your Spirit, which futher inspires changes in your Mind and Body. Once embarked, the journey provides its own momentum.

Mind Body Healing

To sum up, we are unified MindBodySpirit entities and we can move and change our energy with intention. Normally when we are unconsciously driving down the highway of life, we are destined for a break-down or a crash. Once our lives have stopped, we wonder how this could have happened. But you can alter your course by changing the life-patterns of thoughts, emotions or behaviors. Addressing the BodyMindSpirit as a whole allows for very quick change and instant relief of problems that have been plaguing you, or dis-ease for which the medical model has little to offer.
