subject: Cleaning Your Kitchen With Natural Substances [print this page]

If you want to be a truly great cook, you need to start with a truly great kitchen. While you may not have the most up to date expensive appliances for cooking and baking, you can begin by having a sparkling clean surface.

If you are going to clean a kitchen surface that you are going to put food directly on, you need to use natural cleaners instead of dangerous chemicals which can sneak into your food later on. Using chemicals such as bleach can be especially harmful if they are accidentally consumed in traces of food.

If you choose to go the safe, natural route, you and your family will be safer for it, while your kitchen remains just as clean and shiny. Magically these natural cleaning products can keep your home clean and smelling fresh, without stretching an already thin household budget.

There are a few basic household ingredients and items you can use to clean your home, starting with vinegar. Vinegar naturally cleans like an all-purpose cleaner.

Mix a solution of one part water to one part vinegar in a new store bought spray bottle, and you have a solution that will clean most areas of your home. Vinegar is a great natural cleaning product as well as a disinfectant and deodorizer.

Always test on an inconspicuous area. It is safe to use on most surfaces and has the added bonus of being incredibly cheap.

Improperly diluted vinegar is acidic and can eat away at tile grout. Never use vinegar on marble surfaces.

Do not worry about your home smelling like vinegar. The smell disappears when it dries.

You can use this substance in many other rooms besides just your kitchen. Clean the bathtub, toilet, sink, and countertops.

Use pure vinegar in the toilet bowl to get rid of rings. Flush the toilet to allow the water level to go down.

Pour the undiluted substance around the inside of the rim. Scrub down the bowl.

Mop the floor in the bathroom with a mix of half/half solution. The substance will also eat away the soap scum and hard water stains on your fixtures and tile.

Make sure it is safe to use with your tile. In your kitchen, clean the stovetop, appliances, countertops, and floor with it.

Believe it or not, when doing laundry, use vinegar as a natural fabric softener. This can be especially helpful for families who have sensitive skin.

Add a half cup of the substance to the rinse cycle in place of store bought fabric softener. It has the added benefit of breaking down laundry detergent more effectively, which is a plus when you have a family member whose skin detects every trace of detergent.

Next, try some lemon juice! Lemon juice is another natural substance that can be used to clean your cooking area.

Lemon juice can be used to dissolve soap scum and hard water deposits. Lemon is a great substance to clean and shine brass and copper.

It can be mixed with vinegar and or baking soda to make cleaning pastes. Cut a lemon in half and sprinkle baking soda on the cut section.

Use the lemon to scrub dishes, surfaces, and stains. Mix one cup olive oil with a half a cup of lemon juice, and you have a furniture polish for your hardwood furniture.

One of the best things you can do with this fruit is to put a whole lemon peel through the garbage disposal. It freshens the drain and the entire kitchen.

Orange peels can be used with the same results. Your sink will smell so much more fresh as a result!

Last, try to baking soda. This cleaning substance goes so far back, your great grandmother may have used it.

Baking soda can be used to scrub surfaces in much the same way as commercial abrasive cleansers. Baking soda is great as a deodorizer.

Place a box in the refrigerator and freezer to absorb odors. Put it anywhere you need deodorizing action.

Try these three kitchen ingredients as natural cleaning products in your home. You may be surprised and how effectively you can disinfect and shine your surfaces with this product.

You do not have to settle for dangerous, stinky, chemicals anymore. Try out any of these three products today and you will not only save money, but you will have a kitchen worthy of a fantastic cook!
