Recently, there are some reported cases of burglary across the United States which resulted from a status update on social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. People posting their status in these social networks with their everyday whereabouts are unintentionally inviting mischievous "friends" the chance to ransack their homes.
Good thing is that in one of these reported cases, the victims had recently installed a surveillance system in their home and the CCTV cameras caught the entire burglary episode on tape. Imagine if they don't have any security system on, who would they suspect the crime to with no ideas whom and without any trace of evidence?
To prevent this certain acts of crime, it is advisable nowadays to provide security equipments installed in your homes and offices for maximum security purposes. Security cannot be 100 percent guaranteed however, weighing possible risks and consequences against the cost of prevention is really a good place to start with. At this point, you feel prepared and secured for possible future breaches and attacks.
And as for avid Facebook and Twitter users, careful to post unnecessary status updates such as publicly stating your location or whereabouts and try to be careful in accepting your friend requests and followers. Take note that not everyone in your friends list has good intentions to you. Chances are, there might be some that will pretend to be "friends" but may cause harm and injury to you. Try not to be deceived by others and try to be cautious at all times.
