To get over heartbreak is no easy matter. After enough time has passed you can begin to see and feel like they are just your friend, not that you will have lost any of your past together. You are just trying to change how you view them.
2. If it did happen to be a bad break up--yelling and screaming at the end of the relationship; feeling like everything was going down hill--then just try to avoid your ex for a while. Don't go crazy and try to walk in a completely opposite direction whenever you see them. But if you know they are going to be in a certain place at a particular time, then avoid that area. If you can't do that because you happen to be the same class or work area, then just try to act normal. You must give yourself time to get over them, and seeing them constantly will just bring back angry or hurtful memories.
3. Pick up a new hobby. Keeping yourself busy, especially if you choose to learn something new, can give you the chance to stop thinking about your ex. It will keep your mind busy and even give you the chance to find something that you will end up loving to do or become great at. Try something time-consuming like an instrument or building models.
4. Forgive yourself. If you believe that the end of the relationship was due to things you did then stop beating yourself up about it. Unfortunately what's done is done and you have to learn to let go of those feelings. If you have to try to think about the good times you had together and be thankful instead.
5. Accept that the relationship is over. If you continue to believe that you and your ex have a chance to still be together then it will be impossible for you to move on. Try to let go, and let them have a chance to let you go too.
