subject: Overcoming Obstacles And Planning [print this page]

"Plan your work and work your plan" has been said over and over in business, as if a plan is all you need to succeed. While having a plan is one of the most effective ways to get ahead in any field, a plan alone is not enough. One must know how to overcome the unforeseen obstacles that crop up on any path.

Issues, concerns and obstacles are our friends and enemies in business. These things are enemies because they cause stress, frustration, and sometimes outright anger. At the same time, they are our friends, they force us to start thinking about new ways to execute a process, a new angle of approach of the company, or perhaps a new way of presenting technical sale. Anyway, they force us to evaluate what works and what does not.

Obstacles are little things that can create a big impact on businesses, and Six Sigma has a plan to help remove those obstacles from the path. Part of this is strict observation of facts and figures. Statistical analysis gives one a starting point to fine tune business practices already in place, get rid of practices that are no longer working, and ideas for new practices that will help any business increase profits.

Once you know where a process is broken, it can be fixed. Any entrepreneur will tell you that fixing a problem is 50% of know-how and creativity of 50%. Six Sigma provides the know-how, in the form of planning strategies, but the creative force behind the planning can not be provided, and must be developed from within.

Keep emotions at bay. One of the major obstacles that anyone who has to overcome is yourself. It 's easy to become so involved in work that emotions start to play a role in it. This can lead to extreme frustration, and depression, which is visible to your team, your boss, and your customers. To avoid all the obstacles that must be addressed with logic and confidence, so that the image is not a defeat but conquest.
