subject: Inexpensive Kitchen Renovation/decoration [print this page]

In these current times of austerity, more and more people are looking for inexpensive renovation and decoration tips to ease the financial burden of fitting a new kitchen. Here are five top tips to fix up your kitchen, without breaking the bank:

1. If you've got tired looking cabinets, or your cupboards have seen better days, why not try fitting some new doors? You'd be amazed at the impact some new doors can have on your kitchen. Brighten up the room, make the cupboards like like new, and save a pretty penny!

2. Cupboard handles become grubby after a couple of years, and make your cupboards, and even the rest of your kitchen, look aged and dirty. Get on the hunt for some new metal or chrome handles, and bring your cupboards bang up to date with a stylish and modern look and feel. They're easy to fit and are a fraction of the price of new cabinets.

3. Window blinds are a great addition to any kitchen; large or small. They take up so much less space than curtains, allow more light in than nets, and are easy to use and maintain, making them perfect for use in the kitchen. Practical roller blinds tend not to absorb odours, and can be opened and closed easily, with one hand - perfect for use whilst cooking!

4. Re-painting your existing tiles is cheaper, easier, and quicker than re-tiling,and can have some dramatic effects. Brighten up your kitchen, add a splash of colour, or bring some stylish elegance to the room, with a variety of styles and colours. If you paint on the grout lines afterwards, you'll achieve a great, authentic effect, and it might even look better than an expensive re-tiling job!

5. Stencilling is becoming ever more popular, and the kitchen is a great room in the house to experiment on. You can add some features and interest to your walls with a stencilled border, or add stencils to empty jam jars or pots to create attractive flower pots, utensil holders, or feature ornaments for your kitchen windowsills.
