The prostate gland is responsible for several different functions within the human male physique. It encircles the urethra, and it produces the semen that helps to transport sperm through ejaculation. The prostate also is accountable for controlling the urinary flow, to a certain extent. For reasons that aren't entirely known, the prostate gland continues to grow throughout the life of an adult male in most cases and this can result in an enlarged prostate and associated issues.

Much of the therapy for BPH and prostatitis revolve around the signs and symptoms and a temporary reduction with the inflammatory response within the body. These do help to treat the symptom but they'll usually return once the medication is stopped.
