How i quit smoking after 36yrs of constant smoking

Hi, I am Sherif. Thank you for dropping by and reading this.

This my true story regarding smoking. I have been smoking for the best part of 36 yrs. As I grew older I smoked even more. In my later years i was smoking between 30-40 cigarettes a day.

I am 52 yrs old and I am not getting any younger, my health is not as it used to be. I have suffered a heart attack in 2001 and yet I carried on smoking soon after. I have tried to stop many times. Tried the nicotine patches, Gums, the inhaler, I even tried the new drug Champix over a period of time, yet none have stopped me from smoking or even helped. To me personally, I think they are a money spinner for the big companies and hardly do anything to anyone that wants or even would like to stop smoking. A big illusion to the masses sadly.

About a month ago or so, my health started to go downhill again. I knew it was the cigarettes, in particular the rollups. Normal cigarettes are fractionally better, but given the price of a packet of cigarettes today, I cannot justify paying 6 or even more for the pleasure of smoking knowing that I have 3 children in the household. My options were very limited indeed. Either to quit altogether (which i could not do) or find an alternative somehow.

I reached a point in early March this year (2010) where I was desperate for a solution to give up smoking. My oldest son's girlfriend suggested to me to have a look at electronic cigarettes, E-cigs or Vapourettes. At the time I never had a clue what an electronic cigarette was all about. So I set out on the Thursday of that week to research it.

I read a lot about it and by Sunday evening I decided to take the plunge and give them a try.

Thankfully I ordered a decent pack from a reputable company on Sunday evening. By Tuesday about 10am the package arrived. By about 1pm I started getting used to the electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) vapourette as it is known now. I stopped the rollups immediately when I got the e-cigarette, I had a pack of Marlboro silver cigarettes (the lightest ones) in the car which I used to have about 1 a day of them until they finished. I never bought anymore cigarettes since.

I was very astonished at the improvement in my health in such a very short period of time.

Within a couple of days my energy levels shot up, the cough has decreased considerably. My general wellbeing changed almost overnight. My sleeping pattern has changed. I used to have to sleep in the afternoon for an hour or so to regain my energy back so I can see through the rest of the day.

At the moment I do not have to do that and I have plenty in me to do things that only a few weeks ago I could not.

In conclusion, the e-cigarette is not a complete cessation of smoking altogether as the nicotine crave is still there. There is no smoke with an e-cigarette (vapourette); but it is only the form of vapour that comes out as in a cold morning when you breathe. There is certainly no smell that comes out of it which is brilliant as no more stinking clothes etc...You might have noticed the word "vaping" has sprung out recently instead of smoking. This is what actually happens with the e-cigarette.

What the e-cigarette does is deliver the required nicotine without any of the toxins, smell, bad breath and many other consequences of a normal tobacco cigarette.

This is why I have setup this sitewww.vapourettes.com in the hope that more people like me get the chance to get rid of the smoking habit and into the vaping habit which is harmless yet still delivers the nicotine without the danger of passive smoke and so many other harmful substances primarily if you have babies or children in the household.

Once again, thank you very much for taking the time to read this. Please feel free to email me if you have any comments regarding this article at sherif2020@hotmail.com

Just a quick update. Since 4 weeks ago I noticed that my nicotine intake has decreased for some reason. Initially I was using 24mg strength in the e-liquid I was using, then 4 weeks ago I noticed the throat hit was very powerful to me, so I thought I try a lesser nicotine dosage so I went down to 18mg and 16mg which is what I am using now. Hopefully in a few more months an 11mg strength might work with me. If that happens then as far as I am concerned, vapourettes / e-cigs or electronic cigarettes can be a way of quitting smoking
