subject: Movies That Probably Won't Be Shown On Planes [print this page]

There are some movies that simply should not be shown on planes. Some films are simply too controversial, too violent, or in another way too much about the dangers of air travels to ever be shown on a plane.

Many avid movie goers will know that on planes, even R rated films are often shown. Film producers make special cuts and re-dubbings of popular films so that they will not be too violent or using very graphic language that may offend young. Passenger on flights from Mexico City to Madrid will of course never experience something like the Saw franchise of movies, but there will be some films that are unsuitable for children. In most of these movies the bad language has been swapped out for language that is more appropriate for children. On YouTube you can see some excellent examples of were this happens, were awful language is replaced by something that sounds just silly.

But then there's the plane movies. Audiences on flights from Denver to New York or flights from New York to Amman, especially the ones who have slight phobias of flying will not want their fears to be realized on screen, while their flying. So airline authorities would be wise to avoid showing films like Con Air. In this film, convicts hijack a plane and crash land it on a city street. Other films like Air Force One deal with hijackings and are unsuitable for air travel. Though relatively comedic, a film like Snakes of a Plane is not the sort of film you want to show a plane either.

These sorts of films will only make passengers uneasy. It's best to stick to the films that will reduce anxiety, than to throw in a few horror films or plane crash documentaries that will scare people.
