The Muslims or the Christians?

The greeting words of the Christians:

When Christians meet, it is customary to give some greeting words.

The common words used by the Christians on meeting are:

Hi Hello Greetings Hey What is up? How is it going? Holla (Mix of Slang) How are you? Have a nice day

How do you do?

Good morning

Good afternoon

Good evening

Good day

The greeting word of the Muslims:

When Muslims meet, it is customary to give the greeting of peace that is pronounced as "Assalaamu alaykum".

Assalaamu alaykum has a meaning; it means: "May you remain safe from pain, sorrow or harm."

The meaning of salaam (literally, peace) is harmlessness, safety and protection from evil and from faults.

The name al-Salaam is a Name of Allah, may He be exalted, so the deep meaning of the greeting of salaam which is required among Muslims is, "May the blessing of His Name descend upon you."

The Muslims use the preposition ala in alaykum (that means upon you); it indicates that the greeting is inclusive.

It is said that this word of greeting "Assalaamu alaykum" is the word of greeting used by the all the Prophets from Noah up to Muhammad.

The greeting word of the Lord Jesus:

Now, let us see the word of greeting used by the Lord Jesus in the Bible (King James Version)

Luke 24:36

And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

John 20:19

Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

John 20:26

And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.

Peace be unto you = Assalaamu alaykum
