The word Biopharmaceuticals itself indicates that it is originated from biological origin so the drugs that undergoes chemical process for its manufacture are not taken into account under it. In spite of this clear demarcation, there are still confusions to categorize drugs under biopharmaceuticals. Till now it's not clear that it is biotechnology based pharmaceuticals or not. It includes recombinant and non-recombinant proteins, cell-tissue cultured derivatives, and plasma related products, monoclonal antibodies and vaccines.
1) Widespread of Biotechnology Biopharmaceuticals is one of the department in Pharmaceutical engineering which has biotechnological products created from biological source is called living organisms. It includes cell-tissue cultured derivatives, recombinant and non-recombinant proteins, monoclonal antibodies, and plasma related products and vaccines.
2) Modern biotechnology - It says "Biopharmaceuticals is that stream of Pharmaceutical engineering that contains only products resultant from latest technology". It includes only monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins.
2) Current biotechnology It says "Biopharmaceuticals is the branch of Pharmaceutical engineering that has only products consequential from latest technology". It has only recombinant proteins and monoclonal antibodies.
3) Biotechnology Business - It is least concerned about biotechnological procedures. Almost all the companies producing pharmaceutical products irrespective of them are big or not fall under this view.
3) Biotechnology Trade - It is least bothered about biotechnological measures. All the companies that are producing pharmaceutical products do not bother even though they are large.
4) Pharmacy Business - It says that the word Pharmaceuticals and Biopharmaceuticals can be used alternatively in every health care unit as they are identical.
4) Pharmacy Industry It says they can use the word Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical alternatively by all health care unit because they are identical.
Among all the definitions, it is difficult to say which is entirely correct. Therefore alterations to the definitions will be surely done by Biotechnological technocrats and Pharmaceutical engineers.
All these definition are taken from different industries and with their various views considering all the definition, it is very hard to decide which one is completely correct. Biopharmaceutical professionals and Pharmaceutical engineers may definitely make some changes in the definitions.
