A Closer Look at the New HTC HD7
A Closer Look at the New HTC HD7

HTC as a brand have established great success over the pat couple of years with superb handsets such as the Desire, Smart and Legend.

The new HD7 model looks to further establish the brand as the top smart phone manufacturer thanks to great specification and the excellent new Windows 7 operating system. As far as the smartphone market goes, Windows 7 signals a new era, as super brand Microsoft attempt to wrestle some market share from the likes of Apple and Android. And they are well placed to do so, with many consumers already familiar with Windows on home pcs or laptops in one form or another. Not only is the new OS incredibly functional, it looks great, a vital aspect in a time where looks prove just as important as specification on many mobiles. The homescreen comprises of a series of tiles that relate to various areas of the phone. These tile, or Hubs as they are also known fall into six categories which are People, Gaming, Music, Video, Office and Marketplace. Thanks to good connectivity and the size of these hubs on the display, they are able to display constantly changing information. The people hub shows changing photographs of your contacts, as well as integrating with your Facebook account to notify you of status updates. Although this system does not offer the level of customisability that is found on Android devices, there is still enough scope for change to please most users, with your favourite links, apps and contact details able to be pinned directly to the homescreen. The OS is impressive, and the layout makes competitors icon based systems look dated.

The HTC HD7 moves along at a very fast pace thanks to a high quality 1Ghz processor driving everything along. The Internet 6 web browser loads pages in super fast time, regardless whether you are using 3G or WiFi connections. The displays support of multi touch means the excellent pinch and zoom is facilitated, and this works instantly, and when the phone is flipped into landscape mode, the on board accelerometer kicks in instantly to display glorious widescreen. In a bid to appeal to the mass teenage/twenties market, the phone supports XBox Live and Zune music. XBox users can sign into their own accounts and a series of games will be available, making the handset a portable games machine in addition to a phone. Zune music is an excellent alternative to iTunes, offering affordable tracks which sound great with the on board Dolby Mobile sound enhancement. The HTC HD7 looks well placed to take the market by storm. Business and pleasure users alike will be pleased with the variety of features on offer, whilst the look, despite being large, remains modern and stylish.

The HTC HD7 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab are available now.
