When a body is no longer able to produce enough insulin to keep up with the level of blood sugar adult onset diabetes or more commonly known as Type 2 Diabetes occurs. It has now been known that this condition has now been sweeping across all-age spectrum. People who have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes will require an extensive healthy diet modification to reestablish a healthy foundation towards weight control and balanced blood sugar level.

There is nothing complex about diabetes Type 2 diets. It is a very simple selection of food that begins the path to a healthy beginning. With proper choices of fruits and vegetables coupled with exercise, a diabetic can be in the right path of better health changes.

Putting together a good diabetic menu required three key factors: whole foods, adequate quantity, and regular eating schedule. Combining regular eating habit with proper food portion helps keep glucose blood sugar level in checked. It also assist in decreasing the chances of contracting health complications such as kidney failure, nerve degeneration, heart conditions. Most dietitians would recommend to a diabetic patient the following:

Avoid missing any meal in any given day; eating healthy snacks between meals such as carrot sticks and low-fat yogurt is recommended.

Though most would assume to avoid carbohydrates all together, a proper amount of complex-carbohydrate as part of a consistent food portion can do some good

On the same token, simple carbs from starchy food such as bread, flour, potatoes, and rice can be very hazardous to the blood sugar level

Include high fiber content on the diet; fiber helps absorb fructose sugar from fruits and vegetables which helps regulates blood sugar level

Avoid saturated-fats especially from conventional meats; avoid dairy products is possible or only consume non-fat dairy alternatives; when cooking meats, try avoiding deep frying rather use alternative methods such as broil, boil, grill, or even light frying (use minimal oil in the pan)

Avoid drinking too much alcohol

Avoid drinking high sugary beverages including fruit juices; instead drink lemon-water or herbal tea

Drink plenty of water; water helps flush glucose sugar out from the body; this also helps keep the body hydrated (dehydration is a common symptom of of diabetes)

Another thing to remember is to always see a primary health-care physician and/or dietitian on a regular basis. They can help maintain and monitor blood sugar level as well as further advice on food nutrition, supplements and other essential minerals that help to maximize glucose absorption and over all normal organ functions including the immune system.
