Kanas deserves the national 5A-level scenic spot awarded by China National Tourism Administration.
The famous Kanas Scenic Spot is located in Bu'erjin County in Urumqi city of Xinjiang China, 150 km away from the County with the total area of 5588 square km. Being a comprehensive scenic spot, Kanas perfectly integrates glacier, lake, forest, grassland, pasture, river, national customs, rare animals and plants. The splendid glacier is mirrored with peaceful lake, and the boundless grasslands envelop the deep and serene virgin forest. Mysterious monster in the lake, unsophisticated Twa and varying lake make you crazy.
Kanas Lake
Kanas Lake origins from Mongolian, means "a lake in canyon". Being the largest alp lake in China, Kanas Lake is located in the jungle of Altai Mountains with the altitude of 1374 meters, 24 km stretch from south to north, 1.9 km average width, 188.5 meters depth, and with the area of 45.73 square km. The monster named Taimen lives in the lake with tens of meters length and there are swans and other rare birds flying above the lake.
Twa Village
Twa is an age-old people of Kanas, living by nomadismand hunting. Nearly 400 years, they are doughty and have excellent equestrian skills, and good at singing and dancing, which are still remained of this original lifestyle. The wooden houses built by logs, scattering in the village, water flowing beneath a little bridge, smoke spiraling from kitchens and delicious flavor emitting from milk and wine, perfectly form cozy and pristine village scenery.
Wolong Bay
On the way to Kanas, 140 km away from Bu'erjin County, there is a lake named Wolong Bay with crystal clear water surrounded by dense forest, and flowers around the lake blooming like a piece of brocade. There is a small island in the middle of the lake with beautiful scenery. Rapids beat the huge stone in the lake, booming like the sound of thunder, which resounds through the valley.
