Tiles installation is not an easy process and it is even more difficult if you do not have the proper adhesive. Tile adhesive has the job of bonding the bottom of a tile tiles to the wall or whatever surface it is. Since there has been a great improvement in this type of adhesives, laying tiles can be done not just by qualified experts, but by anyone who wants to save some money. So, when it comes about tile adhesives, there are different types that serve different uses.

Firstly, when you are planning to buy a tile adhesive, you have to consider the type of installation that is involved in your project. Whether the tiles will be applied on the floor or on the wall, inside or outside, in a dry area or in a wet one, you will need an adhesive special created to work for that particular scenario.

Organic mastics for instance are among the most common types of adhesives for tiles, as people prefer them because they do not have to be mixed and they ensure the wall tiles in place, completely avoiding slipping. However, they are not suitable for places that are exposed to heat and for outdoor applied tiles.

Thin-set mortar is another popular choice in terms of tile adhesives, and they can be mixed by yourself while you install the tiles. Compared to the organic mastics, these offer increased flexibility and higher bonding strength. Dry-set mortar, or water mortar is a type of thin-set mortar that combines sand, Portland cement and one more element that helps on retaining the water. As it is mixed with water, it has the benefit of allowing more hydration to the adhesive. This is what makes it a favorite choice in the tile adhesive industry.

Last but not least, acrylic mixed mortar and latex mortar have some special addictives that increase their adhesion while lowering the water absorption.
