subject: How To Discover Your Own Unique Way Of Learning. [print this page]

Whether you're learning how to ride a horse, play a musical instrument or speak a foreign language, there are two basic ways that most people learn.

One of the methods is called the dive in the deep end method, otherwise known as sink or swim. This of course is purely trial and error -- sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't!

With this method, there is no way of knowing the outcome. Not really very satisfactory.

The other method, we could call "the think about it" method. This involves analysing and studying and thinking about the problem before jumping in.

In this method its only after the outcome has been considered, that the decision is made to go ahead.

This can give a certain amount of assurance to some people; they are not so worried about the outcome and the consequences. This is because they feel they have more control.

Both of these methods have their pros and cons. However, each situation needs to be evaluated before deciding which scenario is the best way forward.

An example of this would be launching a mission to outer space. The astronauts can't hope to find the right course and reach their target by a system of trial and error.

For missions like this, that cost billions of dollars and are of high complexity you cannot try it first and discuss it later!

Conversely, if little Jimmy is trying to ride a bicycle that trial and error scenario will be perfectly okay. He will learn pretty quickly, albeit unconsciously, the laws of physics!

Strangely enough, not a lot of people today are aware that they can train their memory to recall masses of information.

If you're a student the ability to remember is an enormous asset and will give you the edge over everyone else who does not have memory skills.

In the fast paced environment of today, we need all the help we can get and it can be and should be fun to.

Speaking personally, my own life has been greatly enhanced by learning memory skills. As a full-time church pastor, you can imagine just how useful these skills are.

I have found my writing ability, not to mention public speaking skill ,has been greatly assisted through the use of mnemonics.

You also can be helped. For more information on human psychology, and how to improve your memory skills and enhance your concentration for better performance at work or school, you will probably want to take a look at the Mighty Memory system.
