This beautiful young child is now dumpster diving and begging people for their spare change. He or she is withering away from both drug addiction and immune dysfunction... with no medical care in sight.
Any time I do this exercise myself, it makes it tough for me to breathe. It sincerely does. And I'm certain you can identify when I promise you that I'd do literally anything and everything I was capable of doing to rescue my little one from that nightmare without a second of hesititation! I just want to jump into that image, scoop him up in my arms, and run him to safety, warmth, health, comfort, and happiness.
But for the boys and girls on the dangerous streets, this is seldom an option, as they have no caring loved ones to depend on. And in all reality, they don't have anybody whatsoever. Their parents are very well dead... or in jail... or mentally incapacitated due to drug addiction. Worse still, a number of these kids were initially tossed into these situations by their parents, who traded their "services" for drugs. Please note, this is NOT all too uncommon. Most of these kids are good kids who just never really had a chance.
So what can we actually do to help?
That happens to be a really good question. In essence, the answer is very basic. Ready for it? Give your unwanted automobile to your local vehicle donation program as soon as possible. Thanks to your generosity, the charitable organization will be able to have a tremendous impact on these girls' and boys' lives.
