In figures just released it's been revealed that Ford have once again continued to stretch their lead over their rival car manufacturers.

During April 2010 they sold 27,824 more cars than their nearest rival in the UK. This means that Ford sold 6,500 more units than the same period last year. The increase in sales were not just attributed to one brand either sales were strong across all of their models which had a very strong impact on their overall sales figures.

The Ford Fiesta and Focus still remain their most popular sellers with the Fiesta remaining a firm favourite amongst motorists.

It seems as though motorists can't get enough of the popular supermini which is not only stylish and good-looking but offers fantastic value for money.

Both Ford models were particularly popular during the government-funded scrappage scheme and often occupied the first two positions. So now that the scheme is over it will be really interesting to see whether or not there is a slump in sales.

Many manufactures are offering their own alternative' scrappage scheme in an effort to ensure that new car sales continue now the scheme has ended. Motor industry experts will no doubt be keeping an eye out to check any trends.

Another factor which has contributed to the success of Ford's superminis is the fact that they offer eco-friendly vehicles something that seems to be very important for motorists and a prominent topic right now.

The success in sales has also been attributed to Ford dealers who have helped to increase vehicle sales.
