List Building With Social Marketing & Article Marketing for a Highly Qualified List Right Now

List Building is one of the most misunderstood concepts on the Internet. And yet it is one of the most important.

So let's see if we can clear up some of the confusion, and then give you some powerful strategies for building a highly responsive list community.

First, a definition

First of all, let's define that phrase I just used - list community. Many online marketers think of their list as just a collection of email addresses that they get to relentlessly pound into buying something from them.

I think of my list members as my "list community" - a group of people with live heads and live hearts that are looking to me to help them reach their goals.

It's an entirely different mindset.

And here is one thing I know for sure:

When you take great care of your list community, your list community will take great care of you

List Building & Article Marketing

Having said that, let's look at how to combine list building and article marketing. I have found, and so have my students, that article marketing is the absolute best no cost strategy for build a highly responsive list community.

First you create a compelling article that demonstrates how you approach problems and how you uniquely solve problems. At the end of the article, invite your reader/prospect to get more good information from you in exchange for their email address.

Follow up with additional good information and tips, and offer them resources that you know are the natural next step for them. It's really that simple and really that powerful.

List Building & Social Marketing

Now let's add Social Marketing to the mix. The first thing to realize is that your Facebook Fans, your Twitter followers, your YouTube subscribers, each one of these is it's own list. So with Social Marketing you wind up with multiple lists in addition to your email list.

Here the crucial distinction that most online marketers do not get, sometimes to their own sorrow. While it is true that your Twitter followers, Facebook fans, YouTube subscribers, etc. are lists, they are not under your control. These lists, just like the sites they are on, belong to the owners of the sites. So your Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube page can be taken down, and you lose all those list members.

Not a pretty sight.

So why not leverage these sites and get prospects from your Social Marketing sites onto your email list?

Invite them to read your articles where they can then follow your call to action onto your opt-in page. While you are at it, why not invite them straight to an opt-in page from your Social Marketing sites?
