Buying an internet domain is pretty easy but first you have to choose which domain name you want. There's no point buying an internet domain for affiliate marketing which has nothing to do with your chosen niche unless you're a very experienced internet marketer.
First of all, what will be the focus of your website? Here are a few alternatives:
A niche site selling physical products related to that niche, e.g. baby clothes.
A niche site selling mostly e-products related to that niche, e.g. internet marketing
A review site devoted to one make of product, e.g. Canon cameras
A review site devoted to different makes of the same product, e.g. lawnmowers
A review site devoted to one single product
A review site devoted to a number of completely different products, e.g. lawnmowers, baby clothes and cameras.
Let's take number 1. Here you're going to be selling one type of product so it would be sensible to choose a domain name which contains the words "baby clothes", so you should do some keyword research around this basic term. I did a quick search using my favourite keyword tool at Wealthy Affiliate and encountered the term "hip baby clothes". This term only has 479 competing pages so you might want to go for the domain hipbabyclothes.com or hip-baby-clothes.com. If you can't get .com then .org and .net are said to be next best.
Now for number 2. Buying an internet domain for an internet marketing niche is a bit different because you won't be selling all the same products. You may be selling ebooks, software and physical books all covering different topics such as keyword research, attracting traffic and building websites. Now, you're not going to get internetmarketing.com but you might get internetmarketingwithfred.com (or whatever your name is).
For number 3, the single brand site you might go for canoncamerareviews.com and for number 4, lawnmowerreviews.com.
For number 5, the single product you might try canonpowershotg12.com and for number 6. how about bestproductreviews.com or productreviewswithfred.com
I'm sure you see my point that when buying an internet domain, you need to give some thought to what sort of site you want.
When you've decided, then buying an internet domain is the work of a few minutes.
