Arsenal legend Ian Wright has been reported to have told the football news media that his step son Shaun Wright-Phillips to quit Manchester City in a bid to save his career.
Wright-Phillips has struggled to make a mark within the Manchester City first team since the arrival of manager Roberto Mancini and now that he has the go ahead to spend what he needs to in order to win silverware, it seems that the former England striker is advising his son to look to get out of the club before it's too late.
Wright called his step son and told him that he needs to press for a transfer out of the Eastlands club in January or at very least look to secure a loan deal in which he can be playing regular first team football.
The atmosphere within the Manchester City camp is a little frosty at the moment following the spending of 300 million on new players during the summer, creating a huge amount of competition for players to have to fight their way through just to get named in the 18 man squads taken to games.
Wright also pointed out to Shaun that England manager Fabio Capello must rate the winger because he is still present within the national side selection even though he hasn't featured in many games for Man City either in the Premier League or within the European games that they are involved in.
The news that Wright-Phillips has been told to leave the club will alert a number of interested clubs who are more than willing to offer the winger a way out of Manchester, but only as long as the price is right.
Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson is expected to be at the very front of the queue for the player's services once January rolls round after he publically declared that he was interest in the midfielder and had set aside 5 million out of his transfer war chest that he is set to be handed by club owner John Henry.
