Heaven

Just a Glimpse

September 26, 2002

Dear Mom:

It occurs to me I have yet to share with you about my new home in heaven, except to say it is wonderful, and believe you me it is.

Heaven is even better than the Bible describes it. I mean the people who wrote the Bible did a wonderful job, but how do you put into human words what no human has seen or experienced. There simply is no point of reference.

The best thing about heaven, hands down, is that Jesus is here. Forget having to spend eternity in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. I cannot even imagine eternity without Jesus. And thank God we do not have to.

Perhaps the second best thing is that there is nothing to worry about in heaven. Everything is perfect; go figure! No taxes to pay. No arguing. No murders. No crippled limbs. No diseases. No eyeglasses. No hearing aids. No Pain. No hunger. Well I'm sure you get my meaning no worries at all.

Another amazing thing is the angels. My God (and I do mean my God!) some angels are more beautiful than words can describe. Some are so different from anything you have ever seen on earth I can't describe them to you. There are many things in heaven that you must be here to see to be able to understand. There simply is no point of reference in earthly terms to describe them.

God loves His angels as much as He loves us. God uses His angels a lot too. They are always doing His bidding and can be found at one time or another in all of God's creation. They love Him too and are always willing to do whatever pleases Him.

Housing is another really neat thing. Everyone has a beautiful place to spend eternity. My home is perfect for me as is everyone else's home perfect for them.

There is no need for lights in heaven. God supplies all the light we need. Not the kind of blinding light you might think. It is a warm, comforting, reassuring, type of light and is, in earthly terms, "on 24/7".

As you often read to me out of the Bible, the streets are paved in pure gold and the walls surrounding heaven are made of precious stones, but you already knew that. In a nutshell, heaven is the only place people with a choice would pick to spend eternity.

Speaking of choice, because you chose to speak to the post office lady who has always frustrated you with her bad attitude has just been saved! After you shared the good news with her she decided to check it out for herself and has since become a Christian. Congratulation! That's another soul for our team! And just when you thought you don't make a difference.

Love Always
