subject: Who Is The International Women's Voice? [print this page] The International Women's Voice is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to protecting human rights and the rights of women all over the world. The members of this organization denounce and stand up against those who abuse their power to harm the rights of others. The International Women's Voice is not government based, but does take part in programs that are established to help women better their political and economic futures for the improvement of society as a whole, such as taking part in the debate over nationalized health care.
The International Women's Voice stands firm in their commitment to break the vicious cycle of poverty and illiteracy that keeps women in a position of being victimized. Women who have limited resources and chances and are considered to be worthless to society, women who are categorized as second class citizens, victims of domestic violence, and victims of human rights violations are all able to be helped by the organization.
The International Women's Voice operates on the following principles:
Women who lack defenses are more likely to suffer negative impacts from disease, famine, and war;
People all over the world should be allowed to practice their personal beliefs by rising up against the people who are trying to oppress them;
God created women to live free from the harms of violence and acts of inhumanity and general brutality;
Partisan politics and specific churches do not affect their role.
The International Women's Voice makes these goals a reality by following the following guidelines:
Establishing education programs within communities to help women with few financial resources to regain power;
Establish programs and provide resources to help stop human rights abuse throughout all of society;
Organize petitions to stop government corruption, such as with the new health care law;
Recruit members of the private sector in order to apply pressure politically;
Organize boycotts, such as the case with new health care changes, to force change;
Use the media's power to bring awareness to serious issues throughout the world.
