subject: Reasons To Opt For Personalised Birthday Cards [print this page]

When it comes to picking birthday cards, most of us simply pop down to the local supermarket during our lunch break, or nip in after work and try to choose a card that is suitable and funny and relevant. However, if you are looking for good reasons to opt for personalised birthday cards instead, then think about this...

You pop down to your local supermarket and peruse the birthday card aisle what will you see? More often than not the usual suspects can be found there under the harsh lights and amidst the mind numbing 'pap' that passes for supermarket music, you will find the following:

A stressed looking male. Average age 32. Pushing a huge trolley, containing... Nothing! Mission? To buy wife/girlfriend/mother a card that is not A) Offensive, B) Designed for the wrong gender, C) Too cheap, D) Too expensive E) Containing the wrong sentiment, or F) Meant for another occasion. You will see him scan the cards, an increasingly confused and perplexed expression spread across his face with possibly a dash of fear thrown in for good measure! Watch him scowl at the 'With Sympathy cards', as the memory of his mother-in-law's last birthday comes to mind how was he supposed to know these were condolence cards and had a meaning deeper than "you have my sympathy that you are now 65, which is, you know, really old and stuff!"?

Amongst the crowded aisle you will also find a mother of three, her trolley overflowing, with bickering kids hanging off it. Watch as she battles through the crowd to purchase ANOTHER birthday card for one of her children's class mate's parties. The harassed look on her face as she struggles trying to work out if little Jennifer will be turning 6 or 7? Cursing mixed year classes, which make everything far more complicated! Eventually settling on a 'non age specific card', only to have one of her offspring start screaming at her that Disney Princesses are for babies and she will be subject to social ridicule and the most cruel of childhood activities, 'teasing', if she buys it!

There will also be the obligatory O.A.P. Nestled amongst the busy shoppers, idly passing a few hours by looking at every single card in the shop! Having just had a cream tea from the supermarket cafthe old dear decides now would be the perfect time to purchase a card for her grandson, who turns 15 in four months time! Unbeknown to this sweet little old woman she happens to be standing precisely in front of the very section that 'in a hurry career woman' needs to get to!

'In a hurry career woman' needed to buy a card, like ten minutes ago! This is a quick 'in out' mission, with no time for dillying, dallying, or lavender smelling old ladies! Power dressed in a sharp black suit, 'in a hurry career woman' taps her perfectly heeled 5 inch stiletto foot, whilst examining her 'manicured to perfection French nails'. She sighs in the knowledge that she really should have sent her assistant to do this, quickly makes a grab over the old lady's head for a card that looks vaguely like it would fit all thirty signatures from the office on it and in a whiff of expensive perfume, zooms off to the self service checkout!

Now, throw yourself into the mix. Crowded aisle, mass produced meaningless, humourless cards? Packed supermarket, mile long queues, snotty cashiers, tight parking spaces and so on and so forth! Alternatively, consider these situations as good reasons to opt for personalised birthday cards instead! Imagine yourself at home, with a nice cup of tea in your hand. Snug, warm, relaxed, browsing a website picking the perfect personalised birthday cards!

Not only is the act of purchasing personalised birthday cards much more appealing, but the actual personalised birthday cards are too! You can actually get your niece something with her name on it something you would not be able to do in a regular store because your sister saw fit to spell her child's name T.y.f.f.a.n.i. - instead of the more traditional T.i.f.f.a.n.y! Or, you can make your brother's birthday wish come true by purchasing from a range of risquersonalised birthday cards - allowing him to have his dream of actually getting a hot woman to have his name tattooed across her body!

Who ever's birthday it is, there are always good reasons to opt for personalised birthday cards more choice, better selection, more intimate, more thoughtful, funnier, etc. The reasons really are endless and the fact remains that you can 'show' you put a lot more effort in to picking the card even if it was significantly easier for you to and you did not even have to leave the house!
