subject: Movies On Aeroplanes Are Terrible [print this page] Movies that are shown on airplanes are almost universally teribble. Why is this, and how can you get better movies?
Every time I've been on an aeroplane the movies being shown during the flight have been almost universally awful. Why is this? It seems insane that with so many movies to choose from that they would show something that could appeal to everyone's tastes? However, there lies the problem. There are few moveis which appeal to everyone. They have to get something that even young children can watch and understand and something that adults, since they make up the majority of travellers, will enjoy too.
But things have started to change. Take flights from Grand Rapids to Phoenixor flights from Miami to Bridgetown; flights on these routes will nowadays have much better entertainment options. If you're lucky and you choose a good airline that has a number of different entertainment options for you to enjoy while on the flight then you'll see that there are many movies that you can watch.
Yet I come back to my original point: movies on plane are terrible. Flights from Omaha to Los Angeles may have the very latest in audio-visual entertainment options but I'm still baffled that the options are so terrible. Why do the airline companies not simply upload the 1,000 greatest movies of all time and let passengers choose from these? Luckily, things are moving in this direction. Modern aeroplanes sometimes have in excess of 500 channels of entertainment options for you to choose form. And when that's not enough, you can always take your laptop.
I've also found that taking a book to read ensures that even if the options are terrible there's always something else you can do than make yourself angry that the movies are so bad.
