Protect Yourself with Combat Self Defense

The one thing you know for sure is that is time for you to learn self defense. Now it gets a little more difficult. With all of the various disciplines out there, it is hard to choose the one that will best put you mind at ease, so you can stop worrying about surviving a mugging or a home invasion or whatever.

If you fitness level is above average, if you are relatively strong and you don't mind a little physical contact, combat self defense may be for you. The entire principle of combat self defense is that the proper strike to the proper part of the anatomy can disable an attacker that is bigger and stronger than you. Soundseasy. You just engage the attacker and hit him with the proper technique in the proper area of the body and you're done. Not so fast.

The key is to do it effectively under stress. You have to train your mind to not buckle under the pressure of an attack and execute the proper move in the proper manner. When you learn self defense you aren't just learning the physical fundamentals, you have to learn the mental fundamentals too. Being physically tough won't do you any good if you discombobulate mentally and can't execute properly.

The ability to train your mind is one of the most important aspects in combat self defense. And, if you like to take shortcuts or do things half way then you should probably find and easier way to learn self defense.

Attention to detail is very important in any combat self defense program. And the difference between executing a move the right way and executing a move the wrong way is a fine line. The best instructors are anal about this and so nit-picky they may drive you crazy. But if you can't handle your instructor picking on you, how are you handle the mugger who just stepped out from the alley.

You see, the key to combat self defense is striking the attacker in the exact spot. Not near the exact spot. If you miss, the consequences could be tragic. So this is not a discipline that you can get away with being pretty good at. You have to be precise and perfect. I t won't be easy, but nothing worth learning ever is.

The reward is that you will have improved confidence as well and greater conrol of mind and body. nd, when you think about this is why you wanted to learn self defense in the first place.

There are a lot of self defense techniques that you can learn if all you want to do is impress your friends. But if you really want to learn self defense in a practical way that will mean that you can disable anyone who deserves to be disabled, then you should investigate a combat self defense program. But only if you are serious and willing to make the commitment. Good Luck!
